Looks like I bit it

That is because I did. It really hurt actually, but it didn't really set me back.

Today's dilemma was that the stick was sticky, there was a suspect black something on it, which resembled what I am pretty sure is mouse or large cockroach poo...but it also could have been a poppy seed. I washed it....OK I didn't, I just bit it.

Tasted better than I remember, which is a plus. Although that may have been because of the 'black speck'?

As an overall result, the general size of CC is the same but she is a bit tattered with teeth marks. So only a small pic to see the damage.

Laziness with CC

While I am waiting for the chicken to marinade to the taste of Teriyaki and the sushi rice to boil I thought I would offer an explanation for why CC has not appeared of late. Well there is no reason, just pure laziness. I think it boils down to the fact that CC has been stored away which I thought would possibly kill her and make her inedible, but as you can see her Autumn coloured storage box has kept her safe from the Ants and Huntsman’s of this old, sometimes shabby home. The other main problem is that CC has not been in sight; maybe I will feel more obliged to blog when I see CC.

Note - I have to cook Sushi now, torture.

Because I just went out for dinner tonight, eating sickening chocolate mousse, I don't think I can possible stomach the strawberry deliciousness of CC. But the question I know you all are hanging to answer is - is the clip lock bag acting as it should, has it effected the taste?

The Opening Sequence

After a long, long, long working day (13.5 hours including the drive…long, long for me) the first day of holidays just after Christmas has arrived! Off until the 12th January and what better way is there to celebrate….lets open CC.

Step 1 - getting the plastic off

You know how with normal Chupa Chups the plastic is so thin and frail you can easily, with the flick of your wrist, twist the bit below the pop at the top of the stick and release the clear, if a fruity one, sugary goodness with a streak of colour (this is the case unless you are my mother and sitting in a quiet cinema, this then can take up to 4 irritating minutes). Well with a 75 x larger CC it is pretty much impossible to do this. Scissors needed to be involved. So after some reefing and peeling, success!

Step 2 – how did it look?

Much darker in colour than I thought, as you can probably see, I must say I was surprised to see none of that clearness was apparent. Also CC was a little banged up; it had been sitting in my room for a couple of weeks…so if you know me at all this is bound to happen.

Step 3 – the first lick

Was good, but made it clear this was going to take some time and lots of bullshitting on this blog to complete. Strawberry is an excellent choice of flavour, my favourite in fact. I did give my mum a lick of it, pretty gross I know but I rinsed it…after all she is my mum. Washing was a mistake though…read on.

Step 4 – problematic
Question – when you rinse a CC in the sink, how are you meant to dry it?

Paper towel just sticks to it, meaning you have to wash it again. Pointless and a HUGE waste of pop! There is no way I would even consider using a tea towel, dishcloth or anything else that isn’t brand new and disposable. Licking it was the only way. This solution was successful although messy. As soon as you hold CC up in the correct position (whose rule is this anyway) the watery sugar runs straight down the stick, then your arm. It took me a few minutes but it did eventually dry off.

The trick – lick it upside down.

Step 5 – Storage
After about 10 minutes my endurance was wearing thin (I assume this skill will improve with experience). Chupa Chup Pty Ltd…if you are reading this these pops defo need to be sold with an amazing plastic clip on and off CC case. That would be…amazing.

Solution - The much more boring but possibly as successful (we will see in the next blog) Hercules clip-lock bag. It just fit into it.

The CC website is also pretty cool; it has the history of CC on it…so for the design geeks there is stuff about their logo and marketing in the old days.. They have some branded wheels, like your bug Kristy!

Hold tight with the suspense…until next time.

Prologue

This year my Uni friends and I did our first Secret Santa or Kris Kringle if you like. Since there was only 5 of us it was most probably rigged which worked out to be a charm for me because my sisterly friend Bec was my buyer.

In past weeks we had been loitering around various shopping centre’s attempting Christmas shopping and had seen in Priceline these gigantic 750g Chupa Chups, which we laughed at for about 2 and a half minutes…mostly in regards to its weight.

Bec being the thoughtful friend she is recalled this 2.5 minutes and drove all the way to East Maitland (beyond the call of duty) to get this outstanding gift.

This is blog is a story of not only how you would go about licking this incredible lollipop to a stump but the fiascos that I am certain will occur along the way. Enjoy.
